The roundtable sharing session, titled “Logistics Trends and Strategies: Insights for the Future,” brought together industry leaders, lecturers, and students to explore emerging trends and strategies shaping the logistics sector.Three distinguished speakers, each representing a unique area of the logistics industry, were invited to share their insights on 21.11.2024. These were Ms. Tan Kim Wei, Partner at Lima Bintang Logistics (heavy lifting logistics); Mr. WK Tan, Marketing and Operation Director at Seven Oceans Lines (M) Sdn. Bhd. (shipping services); and Ms. Janice, Director at Regime Freight & Logistics (total logistics services).
Key topics discussed included the integration of Malaysian logistics laws, rising operational costs, evolving employee work styles, intense market competition, high customer expectations, and the complexities of modern supply chains. The speakers also addressed the transformative impact of digital technologies, the increasing importance of sustainable practices, and the adoption of green logistics to meet environmental goals. The discussions further emphasized the critical role of logistics directors and managers in implementing innovative solutions to address these industry challenges. Final-year students had the unique opportunity to engage directly with these seasoned practitioners, discussing the current challenges, strategies, and trends in the logistics industry. This interaction provided valuable insights to help students make informed decisions as they prepare to embark on their careers.
