“Redology”

To enhance the research on Dream of the Red Chamber and to spark interest in “Redology” among students and general public, the Faculty of Chinese Studies is hosting an events centered around Dream of the Red Chamber on December 14, 2024 (Saturday), from 2pm to 5 pm.
We are honored to invite three distinguished “Redology” scholars from Malaysia, Taiwan, and Singapore to share their insight. They will talk about the latest developments in Redology research from the perspectives of their respective regions. These three scholars are Dr. Chia Jee Luen from Malaysia, Dr. Hsu Hsiu-jung from Taiwan, and Dr. Zhou Decheng from Singapore.
In addition, it is a rare privilege to have Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, the “Pioneer of Redology” in Malaysia, attend the event. He will deliver an important speech on the trends and achievements of Redology in Malaysia. At the same time, the event will launch the posthumous work of Johor’s renowned scholar-cum-author Dr Sun Yan Zhuang, titled Transplanting Flowers, Planting Dreams: The Collected Redology Works of Sun Yan Zhuang. This is definitely an event not to be missed!
We will also be having a book giveaway ceremony. We welcome those libraries of university/college, high/secondary school, and society and community to liaise with us (Lee Cheng Hong: 016-7665544) if you interested in getting this book to add into the collection. All books which will giving away are sponsored by Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy.
We kindly invite those interested in this event to scan the QR code on the poster to register, so the organizers can prepare refreshments accordingly. This event provides a high-level academic exchange platform for Dream of the Red Chamber enthusiasts and scholars, while also injecting new vitality into the promotion and development of Chinese culture. By inviting scholars from different regions, the event will offer participants cross-cultural and cross-regional perspectives on Dream of the Red Chamber research, hence to gain a deeper understanding of this Chinese masterpiece.

为了提升《红楼梦》研究与激发莘莘学子与社会大众对“红学”的兴趣,南方大学学院中华语言文化学院将在2024年12月14日(星期六)下午两点举办“半天游红楼”,届时将有关于红楼梦研究的对谈、主题演讲与新书推介。
本院有幸邀请到了三位来自马来西亚、台湾与新加坡的“红学”学者,莅临本校给予“红学”分享。他们将分别从大马、台湾及新加坡的视角谈“红学研究的最新发展状况”。这三位学者是马来西亚的谢依伦、台湾的徐秀荣及新加坡的周德成。
此外,难能可贵的是马来西亚“红学先驱”丹斯里陈广才也前来助阵,他将会发表重要的大马红学趋势与成果的演讲!同时也将隆重推介新山才女孙彦莊博士的遗著《移花植梦:孙彥莊红学文集》,不容错过!
推介礼后将会有赠书仪式,有意获取孙博士这部遗著的大专院校、中小学及社团图书馆,请联系李振弘(016-7665544)。所有赠书由丹斯里陈广才报效。
