The Department of Chinese Studies at Southern University College is the pioneer of Chinese Studies department approved by the Malaysia Ministry of Education, preceeding all other Chinese community-funded universities in Malaysia. The objective of the Diploma in Chinese Studies programme is to foster the interest in Chinese Studies among students at the pre-university level. Our curriculum focuses on the literature, history and philosophy of classical Chinese, as well as modern Western humanities. In addition, our department also incorporates the Malaysian Chinese literature and Malaysian culture into the framework of the programme.

Entry Requirement
- SPM/ O-Level: With a minimum of 3 credits including Chinesee; OR,
- UEC: With at least a Grade B in 3 subjects including Chinese; OR
- Certificate: A certificate in a related field; OR
- Others: Any other recognized equivalent qualifications.
- English Competency requirement for International Student: A minimum score of 4.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or its equivalent.
