President's Message

From Engineer to Educator: A Journey of
Transformation and Inspiration

As I reflect upon my journey from the dynamic world of engineering to the noble realm of education, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and humility. It is a journey marked by challenges, triumphs, and above all, the transformative power of knowledge and learning.

Before assuming the role of President at Southern University College, I embarked on a path guided by a passion for problem solving and a thirst for innovation. As an engineer, I learned to navigate the complexities of the physical world, where challenges were viewed as opportunities and failures were seen as invaluable lessons on the path to success.

Throughout my years in the field of engineering, working in multi-national companies, I was fortunate to work on projects that not only pushed the boundaries of innovation but also profoundly shaped the very fabric of society. From designing state-of-the-art integrated circuits to developing cutting-edge technologies, each endeavor fueled my passion for making a positive impact on
the world around me.

And yet, amidst the excitement and exhilaration of the engineering world, I felt a calling – a calling to inspire and empower future generations with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to navigate an increasingly complex world. It was a calling that led me to transition into the realm of education, where I found a new avenue for channelling my passion for growth and discovery.

As I made the leap from engineer to educator, I encountered new challenges and opportunities that tested my resolve and reshaped my perspective. I discovered the transformative potential of education – of nurturing young minds, fostering critical thinking skills, and instilling a lifelong love of learning.

Today, being the captain of Southern University College, I am constantly reminded of the incredible journey that has led me to this moment. It is a journey defined by resilience, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to the pursuit of excellence. And it is a journey that I am deeply grateful to share with each and every one of you.

As members of this vibrant university community encompassing boards, administrators, academic staff, students, and alumni, we are integrated and united by a common mission, i.e. to create a home of academic excellence and cultural enrichment, nurturing global citizens with ethics, wisdom and passion. It is a mission that transcends disciplines and boundaries, and it is a mission that guides us in everything we do.

Let us bridge our circuits of knowledge, synchronize our frequencies of creativity, and together, engineer a brighter future for our university.

从工程师到教育者：一个转变与启发的旅程

当我回顾从充满活力的工程世界到崇高的教育领域的旅程时，内心充满了深深的感激和谦卑。这是一个充满挑战和胜利的旅程，但最重要的是，它展示了知识和学习的变革力量。

在担任南方大学学院校长之前，我走上了一条由解决问题的热情和创新的渴望所引导的道路。作为一名工程师，我学会了在物理世界中应对复杂问题，将挑战视为机遇，将失败视为通往成功道路上的宝贵课程。

在工程领域的这些年里，我曾在跨国公司工作，有幸参与了一些不仅推动创新边界，而且深刻影响社会结构的项目。从设计最先进的集成电路到开发尖端技术，每一次努力都激发了我为周围世界带来积极影响的热情。

然而，在工程世界的兴奋和激情中，我感受到了一种召唤——一种激励和赋予未来几代人所需的知识、技能和信心的召唤，以应对日益复杂的世界。这种召唤引导我转向教育领域，在那里我找到了一个新的渠道来传递我对成长和发现的热情。

当我从工程师转变为教育者时，遇到了新的挑战和机遇，考验了我的决心，重塑了我的视角。我看到了教育的变革潜力——它不仅能够培养年轻的心智，促进批判性思维技能，还能灌输终身热爱学习的精神。

今天，作为南方大学学院的领导者，我时刻铭记着这段引领我走到今天的非凡旅程。这是一个由韧性、毅力和对追求卓越的坚定承诺所定义的旅程。能够与每一位同仁分享这一旅程，我深感荣幸。

作为这个充满活力的大学社区的一员，包括董事会成员、行政人员、学术人员、学生和校友，我们因一个共同的使命而团结在一起，即创建一个学术卓越和文化丰富的家园，培养具有道德、智慧和热情的全球公民。这是一个跨越学科和边界的使命，并且引导着我们所做的一切。
